Treatment Decision Support
Our Treatment Decision Support (TDS) program provides personalized support and tailored education for members with certain health conditions who are facing a decision about their care. In this program, you’ll talk with a registered nurse who will speak to you about your health condition and treatment options as you go through the decision-making process. Our nurses provide information about your condition, suggest resources for further support, and furnish helpful questions to use with your health care provider as you make a decision about your treatment options. The program is offered at no cost to eligible members and is completely voluntary.

The Treatment Decision Support Program provides education to members experiencing low back pain, degenerative joint problems: knee or hip, chronic chest discomfort (angina), benign uterine problems, enlarged prostate and prostate cancer.

The Treatment Decision Support Program is facilitated by registered nurses on Medica’s staff who have extensive clinical experience and training.
Program Process
Who is eligible for the program?
Most Medica members with employer-sponsored, fully insured benefit plans are eligible for this program. To determine if you are eligible, contact Medica Customer Service at on the back of your ID card. Or call directly to speak to a registered nurse at 1-888-992-3875.
How does the program work?
Members are invited to contact a nurse to set up an initial interview and assessment by phone. The nurse then provides the member with information, options and decision support. Referrals are made as appropriate and admission counseling is offered as needed. The member is educated and empowered to work with their provider to decide on treatment.
